2030 FIFA World Cup Rights

With record-breaking television audiences during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the tournament’s success has increased the value of soccer media rights in the United States. Sources told Front Office Sports that bidding for the U.S. broadcast rights to the 2030 FIFA World Cup could begin at $1 billion.

Fox Sports acquired the 2026 FIFA World Cup media rights for $485 million. With the success of this year’s tournament, Fox is expected to pursue those rights again in 2030, but it will likely need to pay much more than it did for the 2026 rights. Fox is also expected to compete with streaming platforms that are looking to attract additional subscribers by securing the 2030 media rights.

Netflix already has the U.S. and Canadian rights for the 2027 and 2031 FIFA Women’s World Cups. If Netflix has success broadcasting the 2027 tournament, it could be a prime candidate to bid for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

This matters because it shows that the business value of soccer in the U.S. is growing. Media companies are seeing the strong viewership from this year’s tournament and want to capitalize on that momentum in 2030.
