ICYMI: THE PSPA SUMMIT

This year marks the first time that the Philadelphia Student Press Association—a non-profit organization that brings together the newspapers of colleges within the area—had their Inaugural Annual Journalism Summit. It brought together student journalists and gave them the opportunity to learn from industry professionals. Renee was the keynote speaker for the two-day event!

✍️THE WHYY BULIDING✍️

The event was held at the WHYY building in Philadelphia from April 24–25. Each day had new panelists coming and going from all over the media landscape.  WHYY thrives keeping the people knowledgeable and up to date, something the people over at the PSPA seem to do so well. 

🗣️KEYNOTE SPEAKER🗣️

Renee was the keynote speaker for the event. The panel she was on was titled “On The Ground: Covering Big Moments Before You’re Ready”. Because of her own personal experiences while in this industry, the perspective she has allows everyone to see shows us the destination through the eyes of someone who has already arrived.

THE UPCOMING GENERATION

Whether it was journalists, broadcasters, or freelancers, anyone that had the opportunity to go walked away with knowledge that they did not possess before. Renee gave the students and the upcoming generation something to ponder on as they move forward in their academics and eventually into their professional careers.

Over the next couple weeks, there will be plenty of updates regarding the FIFA World Cup and other things that present themselves. Renee gave the attendees of the event that listened to what she had to say plenty of things to go home with and apply to their everyday lives.
