Trenton Catholic Academy may have some players out with injury, but one that just returned for his first game today, Khalif Battle, and the rest of the Iron Mikes did not miss a beat as they defeated the Princeton Day School 89-61.
Latrell Reid led Trenton Catholic with 23 points as Battle made his first game back after missing TCA’s loss in their season opener, one to remember. He finished with 21 points on the night. Ejay Evan chipped in with 14 points as five Iron Mikes finished with eight points or more. “Total unselfishness. Everyone’s swinging the ball, running motion, getting layups, threes. We have two shooters we just have to feed off them,” said Latrell Reid.
David Coit had a game high 32 points for PDS as Freddie Young Jr. added 12.
Coit’s game high 32 points was not enough for the Panthers to ever cut the margin down once they trailed TCA by 21 to end the first quarter. With each quarter, Trenton Catholic pulled away a little more as they gave their fans a lot of high flying, highlights in their win. “We just have to come out like that every single game, because our schedule is tough. If we aren’t hitting shots, we have to play defense. I think we gave up too many points and our coach would say so too,” said Reid.
Trenton Catholic advances to play West Catholic in the final of the Anthony Hunter Bracket in day two of the ESCIT tournament. The Panthers will face Allentown.
