Pennsbury Drops 10 Point Loss to Coatesville

Head Coach Bill Coleman knew his team’s first games of the season were going to be nothing short of challenging. In a loss to the 2016 District One 6A Finalists, Coatesville, the Falcons showed facing so many tough opponents is starting to pay off. “We’re fighters. We have to fight. We knew they were going to came out strong and we just had to come out strong too,” said sophomore Connor Collin.

Coatesville (2-2) defeated Pennsbury (1-3) 52-42 in the first game of the Diane Mosco Foundation Shootout Saturday afternoon at the home of the Archbishop Wood Vikings. Sophomore Collin Connor led Pennsbury with 18 points. Senior Josh Arruda chipped in with ten as junior Gary Francis added eight. Sophomore Jhamir Brickus paced Coatesville with a game high 21 points as Hassan Young finished with 11.

Pennsbury came out strong and led for most of the first half. After a scoreless four minutes to start the third quarter, the Red Raiders went up by ten. That would prove to be the difference in the end, but the Falcons did not make it easy for them.

“We just had to play better defense, we did tie it up, and came back. We were fighting,” said Connor. With just under four minutes remaining in the game, Collin Connor tied it up at 40 with a pair of threes, forcing Coatesville to call a timeout.

Coatesville went on a 12-2 run to close out the game and handed Pennsbury their third loss of the season.
