THE BRAND BUILDER SERIES
Pitch Yourself With Confidence: Know How to Introduce Your Value
How you introduce yourself matters. Whether you are networking, interviewing, attending an event, meeting a potential client, or simply answering “What do you do?”, your introduction is an opportunity to help someone understand your value.
A strong pitch is not about reciting every title you have held. It is about communicating who you are, what you do, who you help, and what makes your perspective or experience valuable — clearly and confidently.
BRAND BUILDER CHECK-IN
Write out the way you currently introduce yourself, then ask:
• Am I leading only with my title, or am I communicating my value?
• What problems do I help solve?
• What makes my background or perspective different?
• Could I explain what I do in under 60 seconds?
• Would I adjust my introduction depending on who I am speaking to?
TRY THIS
Build a simple introduction using: who you are + what you do + who you help/serve + the value you bring. Say it out loud. Refine it until it sounds like you — not a script.
THE TAKEAWAY
You should not have to search for the words every time an opportunity to introduce yourself appears. Know your story well enough to communicate it with confidence, while leaving room to adapt it to the moment.
