Kazembe Abif finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds as Drexel drops to 3-13 and 1-4 in CAA play. With the win, Hofstra (4-1, 12-5) remains at the top of the conference. The Pride led for most of the game, but Drexel took the lead 56-54 after Sammy Mojica tipped in a missed three point attempt by Tavon Allen. The Dragons were held scoreless for the next three minutes as Hofstra went on a 10-0 run behind Juan'ya Green's 10 straight points. Green scored a game high 25 points and passed the mark for 2,000 career points in the game. Drexel shot just 26 percent in the first half. Along with many missed attempts, the Dragons were also in foul trouble early on. Rodney Williams and Tavon Allen both had three fouls in the first half. The Dragons trailed by 10 at halftime, but opened the half on a 12-4 run. After starting the game 0-5 in the first half, Abif knocked down 14 points in the final 20 minutes of the contest to help keep the Dragons in the game. It was a close, two possession game until Green scored 10 straight points. Abif notched his fifth career double-double after going 6-for-9 in the second half. Mojica added 13 points, going 5-for-17 from the floor. Tavon Allen finished with 10 points. Freshman Terrell Allen grabbed a career-high eight rebounds to go along with his nine points and five assists. Rokas Gustys added a double-double for Hofstra with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Brian Bernardi, came into the game leading the conference in three-point percentage, but was held to just one three-pointer and a total of 12 points. Although the Dragons struggled offensively, they held Hofstra attack to just 17 percent (3-18) from the field and forced 17 turnovers which led to 17 Drexel points. Next the Dragons are on the road again as they face another conference opponent, Towson, on Saturday at 4p.m ET. The game can be seen live on Comcast SportsNet.
