Meet The Team of Renee Washington Media & Consulting (RWMC): HANNAH MATTESON

Another member of the Renee Washington Media & Consulting (RWMC) team is coming up! Continue to look out for all the other people that are getting introduced from the team as this series precedes forward on a weekly basis. 

Hannah Matteson

Hannah joined the Renee Washington Media & Consulting (RWMC) team with the title of Administrative and Operations Intern. Now being out of the realm of undergraduate and currently going for her master’s, the internship seemed like a great step in seeing how the world of sports broadcasting and entertainment really worked. 

The goal for her is to be involved with the sports industry because she knew that it aligned much better with what she saw herself doing later down the line rather than the legal field she was initially studying. Though she doesn't know the specific direction she wants to take it in, her interests are working in a college athletics department and her love for golf. With the classes she is currently taking, this all helps her decipher what is the perfect fit for her within the sports industry. 

Here’s what to know about Hannah: 

• She’s from San Diego, CA and currently getting her master’s in Sports Business at Drexel University. This is where she is beginning to fully hone in on what she wants to do when she finally enters the work force. 

• As an undergrad at Stanford University, she was on the softball team. She learned to balance her academics and her athletics throughout this time to make sure that neither of them would fall under the cracks, bringing that balance along with her to this day. 

• Fun Fact: Hannah is a triplet. 

The Work

Going in the direction of her Master’s, she is currently writing sports business briefs. She researches speaking opportunities for RWMC so the brand can expand through her speaking obligations and can connect with people on a personal level. On top of that, she designs and builds Renee’s free workbooks. There are plenty of things for her to do ranging from the many different factions and departments that Renee is involved with. 

The Knowledge

Throughout her time so far, learned how to operate Substack—a new addition in RWMC’s brand that helps reach a larger audience. An important part of what Hannah does involves how she researches current sports events and writes about why it matters for RWMC’s audience. That is a tone of learning and deciphering in itself. There’s a lot to be learned for the duration of the summer and Hannah is ready to grow as the Administrative and Operations Intern.
