FIFA World Cup Weekly Hub (Week 4)

The Quarter-finals matchups are set and begin on Thursday, July 9. This weekly hub will provide you with insight on storylines, events, and information surrounding the World Cup.


World Cup Storylines to Watch

  1. France and Morocco will face off on July 9 in the first quarter-final match. The two teams last met in the 2022 World Cup, where France defeated Morocco 2-0. France will use that previous victory as confidence heading into the match, while Morocco will be hoping to accomplish what it could not in 2022.   2. After England beat co-host Mexico in its own country on July 5, England will now play Norway in the Quarter-finals. This is Norway’s first time reaching the Quarter-finals, so it will look to keep its World Cup journey alive.   3. With Portugal losing to Spain on July 6, Cristiano Ronaldo has played in his last World Cup. Even though Ronaldo never won the tournament, he leaves behind a major legacy as soccer’s all-time leader in international goals. Read ESPN’s article to see how Ronaldo’s last game played out.
